WORLDWIDE DVD CHECKLIST
This
and the next page tries to cover ALL Transformers DVD and
VHS releases of the last years. Lately there have been a
flood of releases from all over the world in all DVD
regions and it's hard to keep up with it. That's why I
made this list. It starts with the upcoming releases and
continues downwards until 1998. The years before 1998
that aren't complete yet (but working on it). I provided
small pictures with almost all of the DVD's , when noted
there are also larger pictures available (also still
working on that). If you think something is listed wrong
or have anything to add, feel free to e-mail, adress is
on the main page.
An explanation of the listing; first is the date of the
release, then the title. When it's a DVD, the region is
listed, or else it's a "V" for Video or "L"
for laserdisc. Then there's some more info or review or
larger pictures followed by a small picture of it.

The DVD checklist is almost complete until the end of
2004. That's the point I stopped with the updates due to
a serious lack of time. I still take pride in however
that this probably is the most complete Transformers DVD
checklist (with pics and links) on the net!)

Asian vcd set of
season 3 and 4 on 17 Vcd's or 8 Dvd's. Again, see
Season 1 below for more info. This picture from Ebay contains
4 of those sets containing the first 4 seasons
and the movie. Season 1 has 6 discs, seasons 2
has 17 discs (!) , season 3 has 10 discs , season
4 has 2 discs and the Movie has 2 discs.
It's very hard to catch up with all the Korean
VCD releases lately. They seem to release lots of
box sets containing complete seasons for little
money. I don't know if these are completely legal
though, they do look fine. This picture from Ebay contains
4 of those sets containing the first 4 seasons
and the movie. Season 1 has 6 discs, seasons 2
has 17 discs (!) , season 3 has 10 discs , season
4 has 2 discs and the Movie has 2 discs.
Unfortunately I don't have that much time to list
all these sets above (Masterforce, Headmasters
etc.). So, please check out this website for more

Asian releases mentioned above, thanks!!
Here is some more info, that also refers to the
Asian versions of Season 2 to Victory. These
releases are extremely popular by fans at the
moment, due to their low cost, although the
quality is less.
All sets were have english or mandarin chinese
language, and mandarin or simplified chinese as
subtitles. Before the menu is an advertisement
for the company and a copywrite screen, and then
a simple menu in chinese (easy to navigate). Only
4 episodes/ disc (are dvd branded and only 4.7
gig each). The quality looks to be better than a
VHS but not as good as the US releases of the
original transformers series.
The DVD sets cost between US$9 and US$15. No
fancy books or anything like that though. They
also have a VCD set for each one too. Claim to be
PAL, but I think they are region free and play
fine on a R1 NTSC tv and dvd. Look here for more info: |

game. It has the following contents; - "HERO
LEGENDS" previously unaired episodes 36-38
from Transformers HEADMASTERS (Japanese TV series)
( Episode 36: Optimus Prime vs. Megatron
Episode 37: 2010 Wars
Episode 38: The Head Masters- 20th Anniversary
Prologue ) These are not regular headmasters
episodes, although they do start with the
Headmasters theme. They are recap eps. Number 36
is a new version of Scramble city, different
footage is used before, in between and after it
and it has become a totally different story. In
between strangely there are 3 Masterforce
commercials. These 3 are shown three times during
the cartoon!
- Japanese TV commercials (including Japanese
dubbed version of the original US commercials
aired in Japan) . About 10 minutes of commercials
, from G1 to Headmasters.
- TRANSFORMERS PlayStation2 game promotional CG
movie , the same as was used on the Starscream
reissue toy.
The first feature on the disc is a 4 minute
anniversary track. It had the Transformers theme
by Lion mixed with footage from "Make Tracks"
and some from season 3.
Over 90 minutes in the DVD. The disc is Region 2
Japanese, 4:3 aspect ratio fullscreen. There is
an opening menu . A very nice freebie with the
Sony Playstation 2 Transformers game. Click here

is mainly a big fight between all the combiners
and debuts Metroplex and Trypticon. Zone is part
1 of a one part Japanese exclusive season, the
follow-up to Victory. It has very good animation
(maybe even better than the movie) and all the
old combiners make appearances as enemies. This
DVD is of dubious orgins , it's Asian and I'm not

This is part 1 of a 13 part series and contains
episodes 1-4 of the Japanese version of Armada.
One comes out every month. Every DVD is packaged
in a large plastic box that also contains one or
more recoloured Minicon Transformers and a 3 page
exclusive comic. The DVD also contains small
extras. The extra on this disc is a short
interview with one of the people at Hasbro
explaining things about Micron legend. Front . I got this poster for free
with this DVD. It looks greater in real than
shown here. It's a store poster and has info on
what's on the forthcoming dvd's, there are
pictures of the first toys and comics too. The
Autobot and Decepticon logo's look extremely big

This is the first
Japanese Armada (Micron legend) cartoon on a vhs
tape. The following informtion about it was
placed on the newsgroup where I found this
picture; A "Special Secrets Video" for
ARMADA/MICRON LEGEND--the actual title of the
"episode" is "The Mightiest Robot
Army Initiates Operation: Landing!" It came
attached to the Feb. 03 issue of TV MAGAZINE. On
the video is a short intro to the world of Micron
Legend. It gives a background to the Minicons (as
seen in ep 1 of the cartoon) and then gives short
profiles on some of the characters [Convoy/Prime,
Ratchet/Red Alert, Hot Rod/Hot Shot, Grap/Smokescreen,
Megatron, Starscream, Ironhide/Demolishor,
Sandstorm/Cyclonus, Street Adventure minicons,
Air Defence minicons and race car minicons that
combine into a shield. Video is about 8 minutes

English version and you can choose between two
subtitles. The menu is a mess and It doesn't work
all too well, but the movie is good enough. No
extra's and I'm not sure how legal this thing
actually is. The GOOD thing is that it has the
alternative version of the Movie with the
Superman like Main title instead of the Starwars
like Main title (names flashing into the screen)
, it also has a different ending , there's no
narrater telling us Optimus Prime will return. Front back
Ofcourse this thing is a horrible bootleg and
came out in various different coloured sleeves. Check here for a more
blue version and buy the official release instead. |
